Dr. Larissa Smith

Professor, History, Longwood University | Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Larissa Smith is Professor of American History and Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Smith’s research focuses on the civil rights movement in Virginia. She serves as university liaison to the Moton Museum, Virginia's only civil rights National Historical Landmark. She also was the lead historical consultant for the museum’s award-winning exhibit The Moton School Story: Children of Courage and author of the exhibit guide. Smith earned her MA and PhD in American History from Emory University, and her BA in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia.
